free baby knit patterns

Let me start by introducing you to the five stitch types that I believe are at the very heart of knitting! Welcome to the wonderful world of knitting! Even if you've been here for a while, there is always something new about this most fascinating craft!

Flat knitting is usually used to knit flat pieces like scarves, blankets, afghans, and the backs and fronts of sweaters. When the needle passes in the cam shell path, the knitting is made. Circular needles are great for knitting sweaters or afghans.

If a person has never knitted before, they should start out with something smaller like a hat or a towel. Fabrics in which the number of knit and purl stitches are not the same, such as stockinette, have a tendency to curl; by contrast, those in which knit and purl stitches are arranged symmetrically (such as ribbing, garter stitch or seed stitch) tend to lie flat and drape well. To secure a stitch, at least one new loop is passed through it.

Even a beginner can make a simple scarf with novelty yarn in just a few hours, and have it look just fantastic. You'll be amazed at how much faster the second, third, and fourth version of the same pattern can be.
