Repeating it out loud confers some of the meditative experience of knitting. Other tools are used to prepare yarn for knitting, to measure and design knitted garments, or to make knitting easier or more comfortable. This bag need not be some expensive item any medium size cloth bag will suffice.
Be sure to try using other available resources, such as local craft and hobby stores. Brainstorm, and figure out which way of teaching would be best for you and your students!
