hand knit clothes

I think when people try to learn to knit they choose the wrong pattern and the wrong supplies. In very simple cases, knitting can be done without tools, using only the fingers to do these tasks; however, knitting is usually carried out using tools such as knitting needles, knitting machines or rigid frames.

Although the mechanics are different from casting on, there is a similar variety of methods. Two courses of red yarn illustrating two basic fabric types. It takes an hour to knit a sock.

Animals fibers include silk, but generally are long hairs of animals such as sheep (wool), goat (angora, or cashmere goat), rabbit (angora), llama, alpaca, dog, camel, yak, and muskox (qiviut). Once you learn these two stitches you will find everything else is just a variation of the knit and purl stitches. In general, yarns become stronger with more twist (also called worst), longer fibers and thicker yarns (more fibers); for example, thinner yarns require more twist than do thicker yarns to resist breaking under tension.

You may also want to consider finding a local knitting group or meeting online others who share your hobby. The place where smart knitters gather resources and share stories.
