how to knit a snake

Knitting is no longer only for grandmothers or just any mothers. I think when people try to learn to knit they choose the wrong pattern and the wrong supplies.

The strength of the spun yarn against breaking is determined by the amount of twist, the length of the fibers and the thickness of the yarn. If the fibers are first aligned by combing them, the yarn is smoother and called a worsted; by contrast, if the fibers are carded but not combed, the yarn is fuzzier and called woolen-spun. Take it from me, when you knit-it-yourself, it feels good!

It has slowed somewhat, but its enduring nature is a testament to both the relaxation it bestows on the practitioner, and the joy of craftsmanship. But mistakes can also be a good thing. Although knitting may be done with ribbons, metal wire and more exotic filaments, most yarns are made by spinning fibers.

So, if you want to slow down, and find meaning in your life again, try knitting. The place where smart knitters gather resources and share stories.
