Knitting is the art of turning threads int Knit One Purl Two happens to be one of the most well known knitting terms, well known by non-knitters and knitters alike.
It is very easy to knit a sock, in the sock-knitting machine. Now count the stitches, if they are all there, turn the right knitting needle around and put it in the left hand. It is important to know the size of your knitting needles because their size is related to the size of your stitches and, implicitly, to the appearance of the finished work.
Although the mechanics are different from casting on, there is a similar variety of methods. Often the better yarns are provided with a range of knitting patterns leaflets. Hand-knitting has gone into and out of fashion many times in the last two centuries, and at the turn of the 21st century it is enjoying a revival.
In general, yarns become stronger with more twist (also called worst), longer fibers and thicker yarns (more fibers); for example, thinner yarns require more twist than do thicker yarns to resist breaking under tension. Such knitting needles may be made out of any materials, but the most common materials are metals, wood, bamboo, and plastic.
But, that's the essence of knitting. Exercise is great, yet, doing something for your soul, is just as important.
