shawls stoles wrap knit patterns

Anyone who has anything to do with knitting will know the importance of knitting yarns. For many people one of the most enjoyable aspects of the craft is browsing through the many yarns available in a knitting shop.

Flat knitting is usually used to knit flat pieces like scarves, blankets, afghans, and the backs and fronts of sweaters. In weaving, the threads are always straight, running parallel either lengthwise (warp threads) or crosswise (weft threads). Keeping the yarn at the back, bring it "over" the tip of the needle, counterclockwise.

I think when people try to learn to knit they choose the wrong pattern and the wrong supplies. Knitters have developed methods for giving the illusion of a circular wale, such as appear in Celtic knots, but these are inexact approximations. Knitting may be hand made or machine made.

Cable needles are a special case of dpns, although they usually are not straight, but dimpled in the middle. These five stitches, I believe, form the very foundation of knitting.

The place where smart knitters gather resources and share stories. Brainstorm, and figure out which way of teaching would be best for you and your students!
